PERSONAL: Born Andrew Ryan Sato on Sept. 25, 1993 in Santa Monica, Calif. … Parents are Gary and Sandra Sato… Andrew has two younger sisters, Katie (born in 1996) and Malia (1999)… Andrew’s father, Gary, is the head coach of the U.S. Boys’ Youth National Team and the assistant coach for the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team… Andrew started playing organized indoor volleyball in 2007 with the Santa Monica Beach Club… He has played beach volleyball for seven years… Andrew’s favorite food is Pizzookie… Favorite book is Wooden: A Lifetime and Observations On and Off the Court… Favorite team is the U.S. Men’s National Team and favorite player is Rich Lambourne…Andrew's uncle, Eric Sato, who won a gold medal with the U.S. Men’s National Team at the 1988 Olympic Games… Eric Sato was also on the 1992 U.S. Men’s Olympic Team that won a bronze medal in Barcelona… Andrew’s aunt Liane Sato was a member of the 1988 and 1992 U.S. Women’s Olympic Volleyball Teams, winning a bronze medal in 1992... USA VOLLEYBALL HIGHLIGHTS: 2011 - Selected to the Boys' Youth National Team. 2010 – Member of the Boys' Youth National Team that finished second at the NORCECA Boys' Youth Continental Championship in Guadelajara, Mexico. Andrew led the United States in digs (fifth overall) with 15, averaging one per set. He finished fourth among all liberos in the tournament, credited with 53 excellents and 13 faults on 118 attempts for an efficiency percentage of 33.9. 2009 – HP Holiday Camp in San Diego, Calif.

INTERNATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS: 2011: Played on the Boys' Youth National Team that competed in the Under-19 Pan American Cup in Mexicali, Mexico (Bronze). Sato led the U.S. in receptions and was named the fifth best libero of the tournament.
CLUB/PREP HIGHLIGHTS: 2009 – Second Team All-League in Marmonte League… All Tournament Team at Ventura and Camarillo High School Tournaments. 2008 – All Tournament in 15’s at USAV Boys’ Junior National Championship. 2006 – Gold medal at AAU Junior Olympics for beach volleyball… Gold medal at AAU National Championships. 2005 – Gold medal at AAU Junior Olympics for beach volleyball.
