'09 World League: Catania

by Rob Browning / June 22, 2009

CATANIA, Italy (June 21, 2009) - We are ready for our match this evening in Catania. Southern Italy is so different culturally from Northern Italy. Of course, they are both wonderful. Northern Italy is a little more like the countries in Europe just north of Italy, and Southern Italy has much more of a Latin flair.

The arena where we are playing this evening has red, white and blue balloons and giant bows adorning the railings in the stands in honor of their guests. Pretty impressive.

The game is completely sold out--we even had about 100 people on hand for our practice yesterday evening.  It's kind of a bigger deal on this island because they don't get events like this as often.

Our hotel is on the water and the view is great. Today is Fathers' Day in the USA so we recognize all the fathers in our delegation: Donald Suxho, Russell Holmes, Alan Knipe, Gary Sato, Dr. David Dyck and me!

And a Happy Fathers' Day to the fathers of all the members of our delegation!

Go USA!!
