One Last Plane to Turkey!

by Girls Youth National Team / August 13, 2011

Hi Everyone!

Our travel day is finally here! Yesterday we practiced and drove through Canada and so we started our day this morning on a long flight to Munich! In Munich a lot of the girls went through a lot of the food shops to look for German chocolate.  Our team loves chocolate! Our flight from Munich to Ankara seemed very short compared to the long flight to Munich. Most of the girls were asleep through the whole flight! When we arrived into Ankara it was a huge culture shock. We were surrounded by desert and crowded neighborhoods under construction with numerous stray cats. Our hotel is really nice! They serve us amazing food for every meal; our favorite is the soup!  The waiters are slowly teaching us Turkish words as well. To end the day we went on a short walk around the area and towards the center of the city. It’s a busy area with beautiful statues and a small park in the middle. Hopefully after today we can get into a set routine and start preparing for our matches coming up in the next couple of days. We can’t wait to start competing! Go USA!
