First Day of Competition at Worlds

by Girls Youth National Team / August 13, 2011

Today was a highly anticipated day as it was our first day of play here in Turkey. We got the day started off right by getting up for practice around 8. After that it was back to the hotel to eat, rest, and prepare for our first match against Puerto Rico. Our match against Puerto Rico went well as we claimed our first W. Although we had some ups and downs in the game, we were able to take care of business with our great effort. The first match was just what we needed to get all the jitters out.  After the win it was back to the hotel for a delicious dinner. They served an amazing soup, and we learned some new words in Turkish while we practiced the few we had learned earlier. While we continue trying, the waiters continued giggling as they tried to correct our pronunciation.  Hope tomorrow goes just as well as today, as we get ready to play Serbia, who is sure to put up a good fight!
