Volleyball, Food, Fun and Shopping

by Girls Youth National Team / August 16, 2011

This is Amber Rolfzen! Today was our off day after three tough matches. We got to sleep in a whole hour later this morning, which was very refreshing! To begin our day we had our typical fruit, bread rolls, and cereal for breakfast. We got a lot of good and really needed reps in at our practice. Right from practice we left to go shopping! Yay! At the Turkish market we went to there was jewelry, jewelry and MORE jewelry. Head coach Jim Stone really had a lot of fun… J We stopped at a mosque where people were praying all around and that was a great end to our shopping trip. We headed back to the hotel to change and get ready to go out to eat for dinner. At the restaurant our tour guide, Serkan, literally translated the entire menu for us… the pictures of each food item helped tremendously too. J The food was amazing! We all especially loved their iskender made of lamb with bread underneath and marinara sauce drizzled on top and a dollop of yogurt on the side. Yumm! Just got done watching film for our game tomorrow against Slovakia. Time for bed! Goodnight J
