Getting the Swagger Back after the Hangover

The hangover

I woke up this morning thinking about the movie the hangover. The scene that shows the guys waking up not knowing what happened the night before. That is what last night felt like.

So today is a new day. Coaches stared at the ceiling all night trying to figure out what happened. The bottom line, Dominican Republic played well, very steady and the USA team could not maintain the consistency they needed to win.

Hugh talked last night about making changes. He shared some metaphors that could inspire the change he wants in the team. Bottom line, find the USA swagger! And impose their will on Cuba. That is the change that must happen or the USA team will find the tiger in the bathroom just like in the movie the hangover.

The keys to the match tonight:

Can USA match the emotion from Cuba and the disappointment from last night. Cuba rips jump serves and they also serve short very well. The short serves concern me the most. They have some big left side hitters that our middles will have to block. If USA can follow the game plan put together by Karch, Jamie and Paula, they will frustrate the Cubans. The Cuban team rides waves of emotion. If they get hot, look out.

The big four go at it tonight again, medals on the line. I hope the USA can raise their level and get it done. Hugh is working hard to create a positive and confident mindset within the team.
