Jet Setting to Argentina
by U.S. Boys' Youth National Team / August 17, 2011
Well the start of our journey to Buenos Aires, Argentina started bright and early Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. From San Diego the squad had to take a the hour flight to Houston, Texas and from there we had to wait four hours until we boarded our 10 hour over night flight to Buenos Aires. Thankfully the plane wasn't completely filled so some of the guys were able to sleep with their own row. However, everyone else was not so fortunate and had to deal with the accommodations not built for people taller than six foot.
Finally the flight was over and we put on our sweats to stay warm in the winter weather of Argentina. Thankfully we had an awesome hotel to look forward to staying in over the duration of the trip. Not only can we go eat any time during the day for either a big meal or small snack before practice, it is also buffet style fit for a king. Dinner tonight we had steak, fish, chicken, fruit, salad, dessert and much more. Before our practice tonight the team went to the buffet for a little snack and there were pastries. With not much down time between arriving at the hotel, the team had to hit the road again and travel 45 minutes to the practice facility. Unlike most gyms that we are used to, this one did not have any air conditioning or heat, which made it close to sixty degrees. Once we got warmed up and started playing, our bodies were actually producing steam from being in the frigid gym. Despite all the obstacles that we had to overcome, practice went extremely well. The team was truly playing at an international level and I believe that we are capable of winning the gold medal.
Go USA!!!
