Blog- Day 1

After 10 days of training at Saint Mary's College in California, the U.s. Women's Junior National Team is off to Peru! We left for the airport at noon on Tuesday and flew from San Francisco to Los Angeles. During our five-hour layover, we ate dinner did 8-minute abs as a team in the terminal (we got some funny looks) and called our family and friends for the last time before leaving the country.

Luckily our eight-hour flight to Lima, Peru, was during normal sleep hours. We slept most of the way, so our sleep schedule was not completely messed up! We arrived in Lima at about 8 am local time, but our final flight to Trujillo, Peru, was delayed until 4pm! FIVB had buses that took us to a hotel where we could have a meal and gave us rooms to shower and take naps before going back to the airport.

Lima was filled with lots of people and cars. The buildings were all right next to each other. They were mostly made of brick, and there was a lot of rubble by the streets.

After a short one-hour flight, we landed in Trujillo at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and a bus took us to our hotel. We had a nice dinner at the hotel and a team meeting. Coach Browning wanted to help us exercise because we had been sitting for so long! So we decided to jump in the pool that night and play "marco, polo" as a team. It was about 65 degrees outside the pool and the water was about the same temperature!

Regardless of how much the cold water woke us up, we had been traveling for 30 hours and now we were ready for bed. We all slept well and were thankful for safe travel.
