U.S. Teams Bow Out of NORCECA Beach Tourney

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 26, 2009) – Two U.S. beach volleyball teams were eliminated on Saturday from the Baja California Beach Volleyball Tournament in Tijuana, the fifth stop of the 2009 NORCECA Circuit.

The U.S. women’s beach volleyball team of Briana Hinga (San Diego, Calif.) and Laura Ratto (Oakland, Calif.) opened the day by losing to Costa Rica’s Ingrid Morales and Natalia Alfaro, 0-2. They defeated Nancy Joseph and Elki Phillip of Trinidad and Tobago, 2-0, but then lost to Cuba’s Valle Milagros and Ion Canet.

The U.S. men’s beach team of Ivan Mercer (Antelope, Calif.) and Jason Wight (West Springfield, Va.) opened the day by defeating Guatemala, 2-0. But later fell to Cuba’s Yoendry Kindelan and Yunieski Ramir, 0-2, and were knocked out of the tournament.
