Three U.S. Beach Teams Competing in Cayman Islands

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 18, 2010) – Three U.S. beach volleyball teams will compete March 19-21 at the first event of the 2010 NORCECA Beach Circuit Event in Grand Cayman on the Cayman Islands.
Heather Lowe (Cypress, Calif.) and Brooke Langston (Memphis, Tenn.) will represent the United States in the women’s bracket.
On the men’s side, the United States is sending the teams of Ivan Mercer (Antelope, Calif.)/John Moran (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Lucas Wisniakowski (Houston, Texas)/Seth Burnham (Santa Cruz, Calif.).
The U.S. men’s team of Mike Bruning (Tucson, Ariz.) and Jason Wight (West Springfield, Va.) won the 2009 NORCECA Circuit event in Grand Cayman while the U.S. women’s team of Kristen Batt (Venice, Fla.) and Megan Wallin (Siesta Key, Fla.) placed third.
Players from 12 countries will take part in the opening competition, which is the first of 13 stops on the 2010 NORCECA Circuit.
Besides the United States, Canada, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago and Cayman Islands will compete with entries in both genders, while teams from Aruba and El Salvador will participate in the men’s tournament.
The Prime Minister of Cayman Islands, Honorable W. McKeeva Bush, will hold an opening reception for all athletes, coaches and officials taking part in the tournament.
