U.S. Beach Teams Successful on First Day in Cayman Islands

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 19, 2010) – The U.S. women’s beach volleyball team of Brooke Langston (Memphis, Tenn.) and Heather Lowe (Cypress, Calif.) won three matches on the first day of competition Friday at the 2010 NORCECA Beach Circuit Event in Grand Cayman on the Cayman Islands.

On the men’s side, the United States’ No. 2 team of Seth Burnham (Santa Cruz, Calif.) and Lucas Wisniakowski (Houston, Texas) also won its first match on Friday.

The No. 1 U.S. men’s team of Ivan Mercer (Antelope, Calif.) and John Moran (Phoenix, Ariz.) will play its first match on Saturday.

Langston and Lowe defeated Cristin Alexander and Tarasa Barnett of Cayman Islands-2, 21-9, 21-8 in their first match on Friday and followed with a, 21-8, 21-6, victory over Nancy Joseph and Elki Phillip of Trinidad and Tobago. They capped their successful day with a 21-12, 21-12 triumph over Brenda Allen and Shanicia Dyer of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Burnham and Wisniakowski defeated Fabien Whitfield and Daneil Williams of Trinidad & Tobago, 21-11, 21-17.
