U.S. Women's Beach Team Finishes Fourth

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 4, 2010) – The U.S. women’s beach volleyball team of Tealle Hunkus and Cayley Thurlby placed fourth on Sunday at the 2010 NORCECA Circuit event at Boca Chica, Dominican Republic.
After working their way through the consolation bracket to Sunday's semifinal, Hunkus (Girard, Ohio) and Thurlby (Naperville, Ill.) fell to Cubans Niriam Sinal and Kirenia Ballar, 16-21, 12-21.
In the third-place match, Costa Ricans Ingrid Morales and Natalia Alfaro topped Hunkus and Thurlby, 21-14, 21-15.
Winners of first leg of the regional competition at Cayman Islands, Puerto Ricans Yarleen Santiago and Dariam Acevedo won the women’s gold medal in Boca Chica, edging Sinal and Ballar, 19-21, 21-19, 21-19.
The fourth stop on the 2010 NORCECA Beach Circuit will take place next weekend at Campo Marte in Guatemala City.
