U.S. Men's Beach Team Undefeated in Mexico

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 15, 2010) – The U.S. men’s beach volleyball team of Marcin Jagoda and Stafford Slick was undefeated on Friday after the first day of play at the NORCECA Circuit event in Chiapas, Mexico.

Jagoda (Tarzana, Calif.) and Slick (Andover, Minn.) opened play with a 21-18, 23-21 victory over Costa Rica’s Luis Sandoval and Julio Álvarez.

They followed that with a 2-1 (21-19, 18-21, 16-14) win over their U.S. compatriots, Kevin Lynch (Venice, Calif.) and Dana Camacho (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).

On the women’s side, the U.S. team of Dana Kabashima (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Michelle Moriarty (Houston, Texas) lost it first match to Costa Rica Ingrid Morales and Natalia Alfaro, 2-1 (21-15, 19-21, 15-10). But they came back to beat Nicaragua’s Elia Torres and Karen López, 21-0, 21-0.

Play continues on Saturday and Sunday.
