USAV Announces Beach Camps for Kids

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 19, 2010) – Youngsters interested in learning or improving beach volleyball skills can do so at one USA Volleyball’s Beach Development or Pee Wee Beach camps this summer.

USAV Beach Development Camps are three-day grass-roots camps for boys and girls ages 12-18. They are designed for beach volleyball athletes of all skill levels.

Camps will be led by USAV Beach Department staff and select athletes and coaches from the AVP and FIVB tours.

With an 8:1 camper to coach ratio, emphasis will be placed on individual and small group instruction including skill development, technique, beach strategy, combating the elements, fun, and competition. 

The final day will include a half-day tournament with prizes awarded. Each camper will receive a written evaluation and will be added to the USAV beach athlete pipeline database. 

Space is limited. The cost is $250 for USAV members and $265 for non-members.

Please note that the Santa Cruz camp is two days only, so the cost is $165 for USAV members and $175 for non-members. 

An early-bird discount is available to those who register before May 24. Group discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Register by Sunday night the week before the camp to avoid late fees.

New for 2010, USA Volleyball’s Pee Wee Beach Camps are aimed at introducing the sport to kids ages 7-12 with little to no beach experience. 

Camps consist of three, half-day programs that run alongside the Development Camps.

Pee Wee Beach Camps are limited to three hours daily with emphasis on having fun, developing motor skills, and experiencing an age-appropriate version of the game. Pee Wee Beach Camps are open to all kids ages 7-12.

The cost is $125 for current USAV members and $145 for non-members. An early-bird discount is available to those who register before May 24. Group discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Register by Sunday night the week before the camp to avoid late fees.
