COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 18, 2010) – The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority will serve as host for the 31st Annual USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships June 24-July 3. For those looking to do some exploring of the city outside of the volleyball court inside the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Reno has a little something for everyone.
The “Biggest Little City in the World,” along with the typical activities one can find in the state in Nevada of gambling and nightlife, has a wide range of activities that appeal to the true adventurer looking to explore the outdoors, the businessman looking for a relaxing weekend of golf, the family looking to do something unique and unlike anything they have ever seen before or the “city-folk” looking for some good shopping and entertainment. Whatever the interests’ one has, Reno and nearby Lake Tahoe has it. Below is just a sampling of what the area has to offer.
Family Fun:
The center is home to three permanent exhibits; the rotating Earth and moon globes, the black-hole demonstrator and the largest collection of meteorites in the state of Nevada.

The Animal Ark is a 38-acre wildlife sanctuary that is home to wolves, bears, bobcats, cheetahs, coyotes, fox, lions, leopards, tortoises and a lynx. It is also a home to 30 “non-releasable” animals, including endangered and protected species.
Admission: $8 adults, $6 seniors and children 3-12, 2-and-under are free.

The V&T Railroad is a historic railroad track that travels from Carson City to Virginia City. The 16 miles of newly restored track opened after 70 years of not operating. Its prime use was to transport silver during the 1860s Comstock silver boom. Along with the scenic environment through Nevada, the train will take riders through two tunnels, by an abandoned mine shaft and old cemeteries.

The National Automobile Museum celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2010. The museum shows two films; The Bill Harrah Story, a story of a man and his love for automobiles, and The Magic Carriage, a film displaying the role of the automobile in the evolution of American History.
