Beach Junior Tour Travels to New York and Utah

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 21, 2010) – The USA Volleyball Beach Junior Tour Crossroads of the West Open hosted three girls’ divisions, under-14, U16 and U18, on June 19 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The girls’ U14 division finished with Elaine Epperson (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Alexi Parker (Salt Lake City, Utah) in first place after defeating Samantha Thomas (Park City, Utah) and Tressa Buckland (Park City, Utah), 21-19, 20-22, 15-11. Sarah Osterloh (Salt Lake City, Utah) and partner Macey Pingree (Salt Lake City, Utah) defeated Annie Peterson (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Taylor Monson (Salt Lake City, Utah), 21-17, 21-23, 15-12, for third place.

Madison Memmott (Saratoga Springs, Utah) and Makenna Daniels (Provo, Utah) won the girls’ U16 division after a 21-8, 21-19 victory over Makenna Santiago (Alpine, Utah) and Magen Hunter (Alpine, Utah). Coming in third was Nikki Davidson (Nampa, Idaho) and Mackenzie Sorenson (Meridian, Idaho) who defeated Cara Gillespie (Meridian, Idaho) and Kilee Lopez (Nampa, Idaho), 21-16.

In the girls’ U18 division, Clotile Harris (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Ciara Parker (Santa Clara, Utah) finished first after defeating Lori Mendenhall (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Kaylie Kamalu (Kaysville, Utah), 21-18, 21-12. Jennifer Hamson (Lindon, Utah) and Mckenna Tait (South Jordan, Utah) defeated Emily Atkinson (Murray, Utah) and Kallie McKown (Salt Lake City, Utah), 22-20, to finish in third place.

On June 13, the USA Volleyball Beach Junior Tour traveled to Long Island, N.Y., for the East Coast Open. The event had three girls’ divisions, U14, U16 and U18, and five boys’ divisions, U12, U14, U16, U18 and U20.

Kaitlyn Powell (Montvale, N.Y.) and Chantal Ramhorst (Woodcliff Lake, N.Y.) won the girls’ U14 division. Taking second was Jane McLeod (New York, N.Y.) and partner Teika Tannenberger (Brooklyn, N.Y.) while Catherine Vedilago (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Danielle Sicigano (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) walked away with third place honors.

In the girls’ U16 division, Katherine Meyers (New York, N.Y.) and partner Haley Crane (New York, N.Y.) finished in first place while Kelly Byrne (Lido Beach, Ohio) and Halle Gates (Lido Beach, Ohio) took second. Coming in third was Nicole Mack (New York, N.Y.) and Lauren Faugerstrum (New York, N.Y.).

Melanie Pavels (North Woodmere, N.Y.) and Alexa Stonish (Stony Brook, N.Y.) took home the title of champion in the girls’ U18 division.

The boys’ U12 division saw Sammy Gibson (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Gabby Ayzaberg (Long Beach, N.Y.) took first.

Finishing on top of the boys’ U14 division was Max Gibson (Long Beach, N.Y.) and Bryan Snow (Long Beach, N.Y.).

Peter Desvousges (Long Beach, N.Y.) and partner Christian Hawkinson (Long Beach, N.Y.) finished in first place in the boys’ U16 division. Coming in second was Kyle Perri (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Bobby Nilsen (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).

The boys’ U18 division saw Chris Sidam (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Matthew Cipollone (Smithtown, N.Y.) take home the title of champion. Mike Kane (Toms River, N.J.) and Andy Jacobs (Toms River, N.J.) finished in second while Harrison Kime (Farmington, Conn.) and Chris Zodda (Unionville, Conn.) came in third.

Coming in first place in the boys’ U20 division was Cody Coughlin (Darien, Conn) and partner William Leclerc (Darien, Conn.).
