Girls' Beach Players Shine at Sorrento Beach Open

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 22, 2010) – The USA Volleyball Beach Junior Tour journeyed to Santa Monica, Calif., on June 19 for the Sorrento Beach Summer Tournament. The event included four girls’ divisions, under-12, U14, U16 and U18.

Katie Barkley (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and partner Emma Smith (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) won the girls’ U12 division. Coming in second was Skylar Morgan (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) and Presley Forbes (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) while Natalia Castro (West Covina, Calif.) and Kataryna Rodriguez (West Covina, Calif.) came in third.

Grace Minchin (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Juliette Luini (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished first in the girls’ U14 division.

The girls’ U16 finished with Tori Hinderacker (Long Beach, Calif.) and Sarah Metcalfe (Huntington Beach, Calif.) in first place and Danielle Hellan (Camarillo, Calif.) and Noelle Berry (Camarillo, Calif.) coming in second. Leana Moleta (Palmdale, Calif.) and partner Emily Moss (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) finished in third.

Jace Pardon (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Nicola Ribisi (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) finished in first place of the girls’ U18 division. Coming in second was Danielle Meidan (Granada Hills, Calif.) and Fabiana Rosas (Granada Hills, Calif.).

The tour will take the June 25 and July 4 weekends off and will restart at the Ohio Valley Open on July 10-11 in Mason, Ohio, and the Gulf Coast Open on July 11 in Sarasota, Fla.
