COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 29, 2010) – The Austin Convention Center, located in the heart of Texas’ state capital downtown business district, will be the home to the 31st Annual USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships starting July 2 and running through July 9.
The USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships will crown five Open Division titles at each age group between 14 and 18. In addition, six Club Division titles will be contested in age groups 12 through 18 except for 13s.
The 2010 event, hosted locally by the Austin Sports Commission and Lone Star Volleyball Region, will showcase 361 of the best junior boys’ teams from around the country playing 34 courts inside the Austin Convention Center. To view teams competing in the event, click here.
Teams qualified for the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships in Open Division through 10 Bid Tournaments. Of the 36 bids offered in Open Division, 34 were obtained at the Bid Tournaments and the two remaining teams were selected at-large. Teams that did not earn an Open bid at one of the designated Bid Tournaments or receive an at-large berth, are classified as Club Teams at the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships.
USA Volleyball, in partnership with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), will video stream three days worth of championship matches during the event. The broadcast schedule includes gold medal matches for Open and Club Divisions in 18s (July 5), 16s (July 6) and 15s (July 7) age groups. The streaming video can be accessed at usavolleyball.org/live.
Adult tickets to the tournament are $12 for daily passes or $45 an all-tournament pass. An age-division tournament pass (four consecutive days) is $35. Day passes for senior citizens, students and military are $7, while the all-tournament pass for the three groups is $25.
