RENO, Nev. (June 29, 2010) – The USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships were graced with the presence of 2008 U.S. Olympic Games Women’s Volleyball Coach “Jenny” Lang Ping on Tuesday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev.

Lang Ping attended the event to watch her daughter, Lydia Bai, compete for Laguna Beach 18 MS in the 18 Open Division. Until this year, her schedule prevented her from watching her daughter play in the pinnacle event of the year.

“For the last four years, I haven’t been able to come watch,” Lang Ping said. “I had always been in the height of the competition season with the National Team. I am very excited to watch her play.”

Bai will compete for Stanford University in the 2010 season and her mother is excited for this opportunity for her daughter.

“The most important thing was for her to get a good education,” Lang Ping said. “We felt that Stanford was the best school for academics and of course, volleyball.”

Being the daughter of a volleyball legend has its many advantages. Along with having one of the most educated people in the game of volleyball to her disposal, she’s also been able to experience things that many people will not experience in their lifetime. She was at every single volleyball match the U.S. Women’s Team played in during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

“I am excited to see what kind of opportunities she will have in the future,” Lang Ping said. “We will just wait and see.”
