USAV Announces FIVB Beach Youth Rosters

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 29, 2010) – USA Volleyball has released the rosters for the FIVB Beach Volleyball Youth (U-19) World Championships. The beach players will travel to Porto, Portugal, to compete in the World Championships from July 28-Aug. 1.
The boys’ beach teams chosen to compete will be Parker Kalmbach (Coto De Caza, Calif.) and Taylor Sander (Orange County, Calif.) along with David Ryan Vandermeer (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Jace Olsen (Manhattan Beach, Calif.).
Kalmbach and Sander are also on the indoor training team for the 2010 U.S. Men’s Junior National Team that will compete at NORCECA Men’s Junior (U-20) Continental Championship in August. Sander was a member of the U.S. Boys’ Youth National Team in 2008 and 2009. Both Kalmbach and Olsen also competed at the 2009 FIVB Beach Youth World Championships with other partners.
Kalmbach will enter Pepperdine this fall while Sander is headed for BYU. Olsen has signed with Penn State.
The other training team members are Brandon Fuimaono (Garden Grove, Calif.), John Caroompas (Laguna Niguel, Calif.), Skyler McCoy (Lakewood, Calif.) and Davis Wadell (Manhattan Beach, Calif.). The two alternates will be Kyle Stevenson (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) and Eric Barber (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.).
The selected girls’ youth beach teams are Summer Ross (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Jane Croson (Lakewood, Calif.) along with partners Lara Dykstra (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) and Rebecca Strehlow (Long Beach, Calif.).

They placed fifth at the 2009 FIVB Youth (U-19) Beach World Championships. In 2008, the pair placed seventh at FIVB Junior (U-21) Beach World Championships and made history as the youngest pair to ever compete in the event.
Ross also competed at the Junior Beach World Championships last year.
Croson is working on her indoor game as she prepares to travel with the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team to Tijuana, Mexico, to contend in the 2010 NORCECA Women’s Junior (U-20) Continental Championships from July 5-10. Dykstra competed in the 2008 FIVB Youth World Championship for beach volleyball and Strehlow was a member of the 2009 U.S. Girls’ Youth Beach Training Team.
Croson has verbally committed to the University of Hawaii. Dykstra has verbally committed to Nebraska.
The other training team members include Betsi Metter (Phoenix, Ariz.), Kirby Burnham (Newport Beach, Calif.), Sammie Brown (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Ali Squires (Santa Ynez, Calif.) and Eve Ettinger (Santa Barbara, Calif.). The two alternates are Mary Vacarro (Orinda, Calif.) and Taylor Milton (San Diego, Calif.).
Jon Aharoni, USAV’s Administrative Assistant of Beach Programs, will serve as head coach for the teams in Portugal. Ali Lamberson, USA Volleyball’s Director of Beach Programs, will also travel with the team.
