USAV Beach Junior Tour Travels to Iowa, New York

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 21, 2010) – The USA Volleyball Beach Junior Tour, along with the stop in Long Beach, Calif., hosted two more events this past weekend. The first was the Hawkeye Open on July 17 in Des Moines, Iowa, and the second was the Great Lakes Open on July 18 in Rochester, N.Y.

The Hawkeye Open had five girls’ age divisions, under-12, U14, U16, U18 and U20, and three boys’ divisions, U16, U18 and U20.

Sealing first place in the girls’ U12 division was Anna Michaels (Savage, Minn.) and Jaycee Wolfe (Lakeville, Minn.). Coming in second was Erin Slinde (Grove Heights, Minn.) and Sheridan Salisbury (Chatfield, Minn.) while Marin Daniels (Johnston, Iowa) and Tessa Mendoza (Grimes, Iowa) and Emma Fahning (Farmington, Minn.) and Payton Nutter (Elysian, Minn.) tied for third.

Abby Caldwell (Waverly, Iowa) and partner Riley Sents (Grundy Center, Iowa) won the title of the girls’ U14 division and Emilee Ericksen (Urbandale, Iowa) and Kyle Inderski (Urbandale, Iowa) finished in second place. Tying for third was Kaycie Hagen (Savage, Minn.) and Gabrielle Salisbury (Chatfield, Minn.) and Taylor Joens (Johnston, Iowa) and Melinda Paszkiewicz (Johnson, Iowa).

The girls’ U16 division saw Delaney Rohan (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Natalie Wilson (Plymouth, Minn.) finish with the title of champion while Kara Cousins (Apple Valley, Minn.) and Jocelyn Youngdahl (Stillwater, Minn.) finished in second. Taking home third place was Rachel Faircloth (Haverhill, Iowa) and Miranda Smith (Albion, Iowa) and Jessica Jones (Knoxville, Iowa) and Alex Samson (Prairie City, Iowa)

In the girls’ U18 division, Kinsey Caldwell (Waverly, Iowa) and Rachel Peth (Waverly, Iowa) finished in first while Alexis Litts (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and Katie Sickelka (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) finished in second. Tying for third place was Ellen Pritchard (Cedar Lake, Iowa) and Taylor Thenhaus (Clear Lake, Iowa) and Rachel Bosworth (Ames, Iowa) and Katelyn Pringnitz (Nevada, Iowa).

Kaitlin McClimon (Dewitt, Iowa) and Molly Steffens (Peosta, Iowa) won first place in the girls’ U20 division and Dallas Ballard (Norwalk, Iowa) and Ashley Lutrick (Norwalk, Iowa) came in second.

Finishing in first in the boys’ U16 division was Tyler Goedken (Dundee, Iowa) and Kyle Menster (Monticello, Iowa).

Jay Smith (Indianola, iowa) and Todd Sutken (Indianola, Iowa) won first place in the boys’ U18 division.

The boys’ U20 division saw Aaron Hrenka (Kansas City, Mo.) and Brian Main (Lamar, Mo.) finish in first.

The Great Lakes Open also hosted five girls’ divisions, U12, U14, U16, U18 and U20, and three boys’ divisions, U16, U18 and U20.

Winning the girls’ U12 title was Megan Jepson (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Meghan Neelon (Clarence, N.Y.).

Tessa Ooyama (Fairport, N.Y.) and Lydia Ooyama (Fairport, N.Y.) won the girls’ U14 division while Pauline Nash (Jupiter, Fla.) and AnneMarie Knoop (Jupiter, Fla.) took second. Finishing in third place was Rebecca Gainsburg (Rochester, N.Y.) and Erica Cappellino (Rochester, N.Y.).

In the girls’ U16 division, Sara Madison (Penfield N.Y.) and Alley Stefanovski (North Chili, N.Y.) won first place. Coming in second was Becca Youngman (Churchville, N.Y.) and Katlyn Tyler (LeRoy, N.Y.) while Madi Wickens (Irondequoit, N.Y.) and Tera Knothe (Rush-Henrietta, N.Y.) came in third.

Jenn Segar (Mendon, N.Y.) and Allison Cappellino (Penfield, N.Y.) finished the girls’ U18 division in first while Sam Wadsworth (Brighton, N.Y.) and Sam Holdredge (Brighton, N.Y.) finished in second. Coming in third place was Morgan Bills (Ontario, N.Y.) and Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, N.Y.).

Finishing in first of the girls’ U20 division was Aubrey Cooke (Rochester, N.Y.) and Leah Farrell (Burnt Hills, N.Y.).

In the boys’ U16 division, Shane Chichester (Brockport, N.Y.) and partner Mike Ellison (Farmington, N.Y.) finished in first place. Coming in second place was Tyler Bank (Rochester, N.Y.) and Christian Blough (Ontario, N.Y.) while Ray Mahar (Victor, N.Y.) and Chris Mydosh (Victor, N.Y.) finished in third.

Finishing in first of the boys’ U18 division was Dave Evans (Penfield, N.Y.) and Dan Glamack (Victor, N.Y.). Coming in second was Rob Page (Rochester, N.Y.) and Paul Syta (Fairport, N.Y.) and finishing in third was Matt Sutherland (Rochester, N.Y.) and Jordan Ingerick (Fairport, N.Y.).

Bryan Eckler (Webster, N.Y.) and Jimmy Parks (Webster, N.Y.) took the title of the boys’ U20 division.
