Day Two Results at USAV HP Championships

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (July 27, 2010) – The USA Volleyball High Performance Championships (HPC) is contesting six brackets July 26 to July 30 at Wisconsin Dells, Wis.

After the second day of competition, the top teams are starting to sort themselves out. The HPC features an international theme with some variations of FIVB rules. Matches are best-of-five sets format with most teams playing eight matches during the event. The tournament will utilize some new FIVB rules such as the primary and secondary libero.

A total of 87 teams are competing in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships’ six different age and gender championship brackets taking place on 14 courts at the Chula Vista Resort. The USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, which featured a tournament-record 92 teams in 2009, combines the best teams from USAV High Performance Pipeline teams, USAV Region High Performance Teams and international squads in the marquee event.

In the Boys’ International Youth Division, USA Boys’ Youth A2 Red won the first round Pool A with a 4-0 record. USA Boys’ Youth A2 White captured Pool B with a 4-0 record. Chile Boys’ Youth topped Team Florida Boys’ Youth National Team on Tuesday evening as both teams finished in a tie for first with 3-1 records. Starting Wednesday, the second Round 2 Pool 1 will have USA Boys’ Youth A2 Red, Chile Boys’ Youth and USA Boys’ Youth A2 Blue. Pool 2 will have USA Boys’ Youth A2 White, Team Florida Boys’ Youth National Team and USA Boys’ Youth A2 Gold.

In the Boys’ National Youth Division, Badger B National Youth Team leads pool play after the second day with a 5-0 record. Ohio Valley Boys’ National Youth Team is 4-1, while Aloha Region HP-Boys’ National Youth and Team Florida Boys’ Youth National Team are 3-1.

USA Girls’ Select A1 Red, USA Girls’ Youth Continental White and Team Florida Girls’ Youth National Team all won second round Pool A matches on Tuesday in the Girls’ International Youth Division. In Pool B of the second round, Badger Girls’ International Youth and Chile Girls’ Youth opened with victories. Both the five-team second round pools conclude on Thursday morning.

In the Girls’ National Select Second Round, Aloha Region HP-Girls’ National Select, Ohio Valley Girls’ National Select and Puerto Rico Girls are 1-0 in Pool A. Over in Pool B, Iowa Girls’ Select and Badger Girls’ National Select are 1-0 to start the second round. The second round concludes Thursday morning in the division.

In Girls’ National Youth Pool Play, Chesapeake Youth and Lone Star HP Youth Blue are 4-1 as no team is left unbeaten. Keystone HP Girls, Iowa Girls’ Youth National Team – N and Oklahoma Youth are all 3-2 in pool play, which concludes Thursday morning.

In the Women’s International Junior bracket, USA Women’s Junior A2 Blue is 2-0 in the Second Round Pool A, while USA Girls’ Youth A2 Red and USA Girls’ Youth National Team are 1-0. In Pool B, USA Women’s Junior A2 White is 2-0 to start the second round.
