Texas Teams Dominate Texas Open

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (August 2, 2010) – The USA Volleyball Beach Junior Tour traveled to Galveston on July 24 for the Texas Open. The event included 91 teams in five girls’ divisions, under-12, U 14, U16, U18, and U20, and three boys’ divisions, U14, U16 and U18.

Winning the girls’ U12 division was Raegan Kilgore (Dripping Springs, Texas) and Hannah Moore (Dripping Springs, Texas) while Tarin Mergener (Midlothian, Texas) and Kinlea Reddick (Midlothian, Texas) came in second. Finishing in third place was Alexa Bass (Coppell, Texas) and Alexis Martinez (Coppell, Texas).

Courtney Miller (Waxahachie, Texas) and Elyse Berlin (Red Oak, Texas) won the girls’ U14 division. Coming in second was Madison Lison (Euless, Texas) and Tara Jenkins (Arlington, Texas) while Katarina Morton (Pearland, Texas) and Brandy Harris (Pearland, Texas) finished in third.

Taking home first in the girls’ U16 division was Ashley Elrod (Arlington, Texas) and partner Katelyn Schmidt (Arlington, Texas) while Nicole Newton (Wylie, Texas) and Morgan Hofacker (Wylie, Texas) came in second. Coming in third place was Kylie Gable (Dallas, Texas) and Kimmy Gardiner (Dallas, Texas).

Carley Cover (Arlington, Texas) and Jordan Joeckel (Arlington, Texas) won the girls’ U18 division. Finishing in second was Paige Krippner (Cypress, Texas) and Laura Paoness (Cypress, Texas) while Megan Royal (Mabank, Texas) and Chelsea Williams (Alba, Texas) came in third.

Anna Goncharora (Austin, Texas) and Jessie Mundtrom (Austin, Texas) won the girls’ U20 division. Coming in second place was Bailey Sheranko (Spring, Texas) and Brooke Sheranko (Spring, Texas).

In the boys’ U14 division, Cade Leavitt (Austin, Texas) and Zach Martin-Funk (San Antonio, Texas) finished in first. Coming in second was Colten Fulton (Arlington, Texas) and Pierce Pitstick (Arlington, Texas).

Zachary Hawkins (Dickinson, Texas) and Zachary Tallackson (Houston, Texas) took home the boys’ U16 title while Michael Gray (Arlington, Texas) and Tanner Zang (Arlington, Texas) came in second.

Winning the boys’ U18 division was CJ Martin (La Porte, Texas) and partner Bryce Tracy (Pasadena, Texas). Coming in second was Matt Houston (Houston, Texas) and Clay Henson (Houston, Texas) and coming in third was Dylan Hotacker (Allen, Texas) and Zach Davis (Katy, Texas).
