Dalhausser, Rogers Reach 10th FIVB Semifinals

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 7, 2010) – The U.S. men’s beach volleyball teams of Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers has advanced to the semifinals of the SWATCH FIVB World Tour Mazurey Orlen Grand Slam in Stare Jablonki, Poland.

Top-seeded Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.) will face fifth-seeded Marcio Araujo and Ricardo Santos of Brazil of Brazil in Sunday’s first semifinal. The winner will play the winner of the all German semifinal between second-seeded Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann and 19th-ranked David Klemperer and Eric Koreng.

The medal matches will also be played on Sunday.

To reach the semifinals, Dalhausser and Rogers took a 21-15, 21-15 victory over 12th-seeded Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil of The Netherlands before eliminating third-seeded Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego of Brazil, 21-17, 21-17 in 39 minutes on Saturday.

Dalhausser and Rogers, who clinched the 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour title with their first serve Thursday during their opening Mazury Orlen Grand Slam pool play match, advanced to their 10th-straight semifinal this season.  The U.S. team will be seeking its seventh FIVB World Tour gold medal of 2010.

Klemperer and Koreng eliminated the seventh-seeded U.S. team of Jake Gibb (Bountiful, Utah) and Sean Rosenthal (Redondo Beach, Calif.), 22-20, 22-20 in 43 minutes in the third round on Saturday. Gibb and Rosenthal advanced by defeating 15th-seeded Igor Kolodinksy and Yaroslav Koshkarev of Russia, 21-17, 21-18 in 1 hour, 6 minutes in Saturday’s second round.
