LONG BEACH, N. Y. (Aug. 8, 2010) – Colin Kaslow and Tim Wooliver picked up their second victory on the Corona Light Wide Open Tour on Sunday, going undefeated throughout the two-day event and ousting Kris Fraser and Shane Donohue, 15-9, in the final of the Men’s Open division in action at the Corona Light Wide Open in Long Beach.

Kaslow and Wooliver, both from Austin, Texas, also won the Wide Open title in Galveston, Texas, earlier this year, making them one of two teams to have won multiple titles on the nine-city nationwide tour this summer. Fraser, from Lakewood, N.J., and Donohue, of Freehold, N.J., qualified for the championship match after winning two matches in the contender’s bracket on Sunday to reach the final.

In the Women’s Open division final, Kim Whitney and Tara Kuk also went undefeated on the weekend and captured the elite women’s title. Whitney, from Dunedin, Fla., and Kuk, of Sarasota, Fla., defeated the local favorites from Long Beach, N.Y., Dana Flume and Hilary Pavels, 15-13 in the championship match.

Several of the amateur divisions were decided in play Saturday. Pawel Pregowski, from Bridgewater, N.Y., and Alex Novitski, of Frederick, Md., won the Men’s AA championship, while Andrew Brown, from Montclair, N.J., and Brett Scarmazzo, of Elmwood Park, N.J., took the Men’s A crown. The Men’s B winners were Krystian Pescuski, from Hillsborough, N.Y. and Peter Lysiak, of East Brunswick, N.J.

In the Women’s amateur divisions, Christine Knox, from Smithtown, N.Y., and Janna Jachniewicz of Long Beach, N.Y., took top honors in the Women’s AA division. Mary Hoang, from Metuchen, N.J., and Marcia Penha, of Marywood, N.J., won the Women’s A division and Jena Hoffman, from Neponsit, N.Y., and Ariel Piere, of Bellerose, N.Y., won the Women’s B title.

Winners in all of the two-person divisions this weekend in Long Beach earn an automatic berth into the 2010 US Open of Beach Volleyball on Sept. 17-19 in Manhattan Beach, Calif.

The Corona Light Wide Open now moves on to Breckenridge, Colo., next weekend and returns to the east coast with an Aug. 21-22 stop in Point Pleasant, N.J., before wrapping up at the U.S. Open of Beach Volleyball in September.
