UC Irvine to Host International Men's Tournament

IRVINE, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2010) – UC Irvine will host the second annual UC Irvine International Men’s Volleyball Tournament presented by Asics and Hyatt Regency Irvine on Oct. 5-10, 2010 on the UCI campus. The tournament is the only one of its kind in the United States.

Teams participating this year include the Korean Air Jumbos from Korea, UPCN from Argentina, Zhejiang from China, Sada Cruzeiro from Brazil as well as the host Anteaters.
Week day matches will be played in Crawford Court, while Saturday and Sunday’s competition will be held in the Bren Events Center. 

In October of 2009, two-time NCAA Division I National Champion UC Irvine hosted Olympians and professional athletes from Korea, Argentina, Holland, Canada, and the United States in the first World Challenge Volleyball Tournament. This year's event will once again feature the best professional clubs and players from around the world as it is a one of a kind international tournament.

Tickets are currently on sale by calling the Bren Events Center Box Office at (949) 824-5000.  Box office hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All-Session passes (12 matches) are $50 for Adults and $25 for Youth, while Weekend passes (4 matches) are $20 for Adults and $10 for Youth. All-Session passes and Oct. 5 and Oct. 8 tickets include two UCI Women’s Volleyball matches as the Anteaters take on UC Riverside on Oct. 5 and Loyola Marymount on Oct. 8.  A Weekend one-day pass is $15 for Adults and $5 for Youth, while a Weekday ticket is $10 for Adults and $5 for Youth.

Other festivities include a free kids clinic on Oct. 9 and a grass volleyball tournament on Oct. 10. The free Youth Volleyball Clinic hosted by United States Youth Volleyball League (USYVL) runs from 10:00 a.m.-noon and includes a ticket to the evening’s matches.
