COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Oct. 28, 2010) – USA Volleyball announced today it has entered a licensee agreement with Rotate 123 (www.rotate123.com/usav) as one of the National Governing Body’s “licensed educational tools.”

Rotate 123 is a web-based program that allows volleyball coaches to plan their team’s rotation and test a variety of options in minutes instead of hours. Rotate 123 comes with a pre-built template library of the most commonly used offenses such as 5-1 and 6-2 and a variety of receive and defensive formations.

“We are very excited about our partnership with USAV,” said Rotate123.com co-founder Kyle Mashima, who holds USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) Level I certification. “Having attended both IMPACT and CAP certification, these programs are essential to improving the quality of coaching volleyball. We feel that Rotate 123 will be a great adjunct to this program and know that it will help coaches improve their understanding of lineup options and to help them optimize their team's performance.”

“Rotate 123 is a ‘must-have’ time saver for volleyball coaches to help create, organize and optimize their team lineups and systems,” USA Volleyball Director of Coaching Education Programs Diana Cole said. “What I used to do to plan my season with paper and pencil – every season for over 25 years of coaching volleyball – can now be done online in a fraction of the time. The Rotate 123 site is a wonderfully visual planning and teaching tool for volleyball coaches at all levels, and it is easy to learn and easy to use.”

The program also allows coaches to build, save or re-use their own library of formations online and print to share with staff. For flexibility, coaches can customize their rotations and save them as templates and try a variety of lineups and variations. In addition, Rotate 123 includes a “rotation checker” which highlights illegal formations. The software is a great aid for teaching overlap rules as well as helping coaches experiment with innovative, new formations.

“USA Volleyball Education and Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) will be utilizing this great tool for real-time teaching of system development topics within our curriculum,” Cole said. “The program is also beneficial to officials’ training as Rotate123 software helps referees create and study potential overlap implications in each rotation. I think USAV officials, as well as all other volleyball officials, will find this tool extremely valuable.”

Rotate 123 allows coaches to view a variety of formations and lineup options quickly. Since it eliminates the tedious work of moving players though each rotation by hand, coaches can spend their time optimizing their team formations by placing players in the best positions in each rotation, then clicking a button to see the possibilities in each rotation. Substitutes and liberos are tracked automatically which adds to the time savings.

Rotate 123 is a fast and efficient tool for generating rotational plans, team formations and substitution plans. Whether a veteran coach or new to the game, Rotate 123 will save coaches hours in pre-practice and pre-match prep time. Line-ups and substitution plans can be created for use in practices and printed to prepare and have available on the bench for making in-match adjustments.

USA Volleyball members receive a $5 discount off Rotate 123’s $30 yearly subscription service.
