COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 14, 2011) – The 2011 USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic being held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs from Jan. 20-22 is completely filled, but area volleyball fans can still get a free taste of the clinic with two associated events.

U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon, Stanford University Women’s Head Coach John Dunning and U.S. Women’s National Team Assistant Coach Karch Kiraly will serve as the headline speakers for this year’s USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic.

Local volleyball enthusiasts, club players and parents will have the opportunity to meet McCutcheon, Kiraly and 2010 AVCA Division I National Player of the Year Carli Lloyd (Setter, University of California, Bonsall, Calif.) on Saturday, Jan. 22, from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Big House Sports (1480 N. Newport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80916). The three will talk volleyball, provide some skill instruction and sign autographs during the event that is open to the public free of charge.

As a bonus, the Jan. 22 evening activity of the USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic features a men’s collegiate volleyball match between Johnson & Wales University from Denver and Grand Canyon University from Phoenix. The match will be played at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs with a 7 p.m. MT start in Sports Center I. The collegiate match is free to the public, including parking.

Other USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches Clinic speakers will include Doug Beal (USA Volleyball CEO), Rob Browning (Saint Mary’s College women’s head coach), Shelton Collier (Wingate University women’s head coach), Todd Dagenais (University of Central Florida women’s head coach), Anne Kordes (University of Louisville women’s head coach), Jim Stone (U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team head coach), Paula Weishoff (U.S. Women’s National Team Assistant Coach/UC Irvine women’s volleyball head coach), James Wilroy (DataProject) and Jill Wosmek (U.S. Women’s National Team athletic trainer).

Serving as athlete demonstrators at the USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic will be Lloyd, Ellie Blankenship (Libero, University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Juliann Faucette (Outside Hitter, University of Texas, San Diego), Lauren Gibbemeyer (Middle Blocker, University of Minnesota, St. Paul, Minn.), Cassidy Lichtman (Outside Hitter/Setter, Stanford University, Poway, Calif.) and Sabel Moffett (Middle Blocker, Northwestern University, Temecula, Calif.).

USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) Level II and Level III courses and certification will be offered on site the day before and after the clinic.
