COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 8, 2011) - For the second consecutive year the USAV Indoor High Performance (HP) Department has paired with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) to raise awareness and build support for breast cancer and prostate cancer research both communally and financially.

“The interest shown by a growing number of athletes in participating in the foundation promotion has been great,” USA Volleyball Managing Director of Indoor High Performance Tom Pingel said. “Like a lot of things, the second year of the promotion is well ahead of where we were at this point last year.  Not only are they important causes, they are easily related to by the athletes and their families.  Hardly anyone doesn't personally know someone who has been afflicted by one or both of these terrible diseases.”

Pink and light blue T-shirts can be purchased by fans, parents, supporters and athletes participating in the HP tryouts, with portions of the proceeds going to both cancer organizations. For every pink shirt purchased, $5 will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and for every blue shirt purchased, $5 will be donated to the PCF.

All USAV Indoor HP tryouts will be more colorful with the addition of the shirts worn by its participants. Both girls and boys who have registered for the HP tryouts that pre-ordered or on-site purchased either the pink or light blue shirt will wear them throughout the tryout in replacement of the regular white shirts. These shirts can be purchased at all tryouts around the country, with the hope that more and more participants will be playing in either pink or blue.

Ordering Info: Shirts are available in various ways, either by registering and adding a shirt by clicking here, in person or by phone. If shirts are purchased online, they are $5. If purchased at one of the tryout sites, they are $10. Shirts can also be ordered via telephone, by calling the HP office at 719-288-6800 for $15.
