COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 10, 2011) – The USA Volleyball National Office has filled nine positions since middle of December 2010 as it works toward meeting current and future programming needs at the Regional and National levels.
Along with the new hires, seven USA Volleyball staff members have been promoted within their departments. USA Volleyball has also combined its Grassroots and Membership Services Departments into the new Region Services Department under the direction of Senior Director Margie Mara.
“USA Volleyball is committed to the continued growth of our sport at all levels, and one of the priorities has been creating an organizational structure that further assists the Regions in reaching untapped membership markets and providing added support for existing programs,” USA Volleyball Chief Executive Officer Doug Beal said. “In almost all cases, the newly created positions within USA Volleyball have a direct benefit to the Regions.”
While USA Volleyball is expanding with new hires, it will need to replace long-time USAV Managing Director of Events Mike Chandler, who accepted another position within the sports events industry. His final day with USAV was Feb. 28.
“Over his 13 years with USAV, Mike performed nothing short of a remarkable job in growing and operating our domestic championship events and an ever increasing number of National Team competitions and tournaments,” Beal said. “We owe Mike a huge vote of thanks for so many advances and successes in this area and others. We, of course, are very sad to lose his skills, dedication, professionalism and commitment to both our sport and USA Volleyball. But, at the same time, are excited for what he and I believe are wonderful new opportunities and challenges for his future.”
USA Volleyball has opened a national search to fill the vacant position created by Chandler’s departure. The job posting can be found by clicking here. In the meantime, Kristy Cox is serving as USAV’s interim director of events.
