Women's Beach Teams Advance to IDQ Quarterfinals

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 2, 2011) – U.S. beach volleyball players Jenny Kropp (Grand Island, Neb.) and Whitney Pavlik (Laguna Beach, Calif.), who won the first 2011 USA Volleyball women’s international development qualifier (IDQ), advanced to the quarterfinals of the second IDQ on Saturday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.
Thirteen teams entered the second IDQ. The teams are competing for prize money, USAV Beach National Ranking points and bids to upcoming NORCECA Beach Circuit events.
Kropp and Pavlik will play Kelly Schumacher (Miami Beach, Fla.) and Angela McHenry Bryan (Covina, Calif.) in Sunday’s quarterfinals. It will be a rematch of their pool play match on Saturday, which Kropp and Pavlik won, 22-20, 21-16.
In other quarterfinal matches on Sunday, Jennifer Snyder (Glendale, Ariz.) and Heather Hughes (Fallbrook, Calif.) will face Christal Engle (Puyallup, Wash.) and Jessica Gysin (Los Gatos, Calif.); Kathryn Babcock (Kalamazoo, Mich.) and Erin Gray (Orland Park, Ill.) will play Kim DiCello (San Diego, Calif.) and Meri-de Boyer (Poway, Calif.) and Tealle Hunkus (Girard, Ohio) and Heather Lowe (Cypress, Calif.) will go up against Abra Amwake (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Heather Evans (Warroad, Minn.).
The semifinal and final matches will also be played Sunday.
