COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (April 7, 2011) – The USA Volleyball Foundation has developed a new Web site (https://www.supportvolleyball.org) to offer volleyball fans and corporations the opportunity to pledge money to ‘grow the game’ in all areas.
The mission of the USA Volleyball Foundation is to develop monetary support that is directed to the development, growth and sustainability of the sport in the United States. The mission is accomplished through the engagement of generous private donors and the long-term investment of Foundation assets. Tax-deductible gifts to the USA Volleyball Foundation will help advance the sport and improve access to the game for all Americans.
“The USA Volleyball Foundation Web site allows anyone 24/7 access to information about the various programs of USA Volleyball that look to private support for their growth and sustainability,” said Tim McCune, USA Volleyball’s director of development for the Foundation. “We are working hard to be able to provide scholarships to players who otherwise would have little chance of participating in the sport of volleyball. And it is the desire of the Foundation Board of Directors to help USA Volleyball grow the game at all levels.”
The Foundation is launching an annual giving program that hopefully anyone interested in supporting the sport of volleyball would consider supporting. This is being done through the electronic networks, social media outlets and direct mail. Every $5, $10 or $20 makes a difference and the support is greatly appreciated.
The USA Volleyball Foundation was founded in 1985 as a not-for-profit, tax exempt organization. It serves as a ‘support organization’ for USA Volleyball and the Regional Volleyball Associations of USA Volleyball, which is the recognized National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of volleyball. The USA Volleyball Foundation has grown from a $1.2 million start in 2005 to over $3.4 million in investment assets.
USA Volleyball Foundation goals are distinct and clear. The Foundation endeavors to obtain donations of money and other financial instruments from private donors, corporations and other foundations for the programs, events, and purposes that USA Volleyball has identified will ‘grow the game’ for the citizens of United States. This private support is also vital for the U.S. to develop the ‘pipeline’ of athletes, coaches and others (from grassroots programs to the elite levels) who will represent the U.S. in international competition and to achieve what the USOC has identified as ‘Olympism and the Olympic Ideals:’ A philosophy of life rooted in the balanced development of the mind, body and character, combining culture and education with a view to promoting peace, understanding, dignity, fair-play and respect for others.
USA Volleyball Foundation has the responsibility for: 1.) asset protection; 2.) long-term investment; 3.) fundraising and development opportunities; 4.) supporting the mission and goals of USA Volleyball and its Regional Volleyball Associations.
Other major fundraising activities are also ongoing, like the recent reception and dinner hosted by Disneyland Resorts on Feb. 17 in Anaheim, Calif. Misty May-Treanor took time to discuss her experiences of learning and excelling in the sport of volleyball at the event.
Interested parties in sustaining the growth of USA Volleyball are encouraged to donate to the USA Volleyball Foundation online at https://www.supportvolleyball.org.
