COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 18, 2011) – USA Volleyball will host the annual North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) Board of Administration Meeting April 29 to May 1 at Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“USA Volleyball is proud to host the NORCECA Board of Administration and Executive Committee meetings in Colorado Springs and welcomes NORCECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, his staff and the volleyball leaders from the NORCECA region to our country,” said USA Volleyball Chief Executive Officer Doug Beal, who is also the NORCECA second vice president. “This meeting is an important international opportunity to connect with the Olympic movement and involve our partners in the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) International Relations Division. USA Volleyball is committed to the sport’s advancement and development in our region, whether through hosting events like the upcoming NORCECA meetings, hosting tournaments, providing instructors at regional clinics or having qualified individuals sit on NORCECA commissions.”

During the meeting at the end of this month, the NORCECA Board of Administration will hear 2010 activity reports of the four zonal associations within NORCECA, along with reports from NORCECA Commissions (Finance, Beach Volleyball, Sport Organizing, Marketing, Legal, Press and Mass Media, Statistics and VIS, Refereeing, Development/Technical and Coaches, Medical). The four NORCECA zones will also present their respective program of activities for the upcoming year. Similarly, continental and intercontinental organizers of 2011 NORCECA events will make presentations to the NORCECA Board of Administration.

The NORCECA Board of Administration will also discuss the upcoming 21st NORCECA Congress set for Oct. 3-10, 2011, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Beal feels that the USA Volleyball staff will benefit by having the NORCECA Board of Administration meetings in Colorado Springs.

“The NORCECA meetings will allow USA Volleyball staff an opportunity to build better working relationships with the various leaders within our region,” Beal said.

Earlier this month the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) selected USA Volleyball and the City of Anaheim as hosts for the 2012 FIVB World Congress, which will be held in mid-September 2012.
