COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 2, 2011) – U.S. beach volleyball player Misty May-Treanor (Santa Monica, Calif.) has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL, an injury she suffered on April 30 during the SWATCH FIVB World Tour event in Sanya, China.
“She will do physical therapy and only be sidelined for a couple of weeks,” said Thomas P. McCarthy of Progressive Sports Management, Inc. “She is excited to return soon.”
May-Treanor and partner Kerri Walsh (San Jose, Calif.) withdrew from the World Tour event in Sanya in the semifinals and forfeited the bronze medal.
May-Treanor and Walsh withdrew from this week’s FIVB World Tour event in Shanghai and returned to the United States where May-Treanor could visit her own doctor.
After this week's event in Shanghai, the next SWATCH FIVB World Tour women's event will be May 17-22 in Myslowice, Poland.
