COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 6, 2011) – ABC’s "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" has picked Mothers’ Day, May 8, to air its episode surrounding Florida volleyball coach Carrie Prewitt. U.S. beach volleyball player Misty May-Treanor (Santa Monica, Calif.) also appears in the episode.
Prewitt, a coach at Middleburg High School and Black Creek Volleyball Club in USA Volleyball’s Florida Region, became the legal guardian of one of her players, Ashley Brewer, and Ashley’s two sisters in 2009 after their parents had both died.
Prewitt’s former home, a double-wide trailer, was destroyed, in part with frozen volleyballs, while the family went on a trip to the Virgin Islands. They were presented with their new house on Feb. 2, but no one outside of the family has been allowed to see inside until the episode airs on Sunday (May 8).
May-Treanor volunteered to coach Prewitt’s team while she was away. To see a clip, click here.
