Kessy, Ross Will Play for Bronze in Myslowice Open

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 21, 2011) – The U.S. women’s team of Jen Kessy and April Ross will compete in the Myslowice Open bronze-medal match on Sunday as part of the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour.
Second-seeded Kessy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.) were guaranteed a spot in a medal match after going undefeated in the first four rounds leading up to Saturday’s semifinals.
Kessy and Ross will play the fourth-seeded Germany team Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig in Sunday’s bronze medal match. Netherlands’ sixth-seeded team of Sanne Keizer and Marleen Van Iersel defeated Kessy and Ross 21-15, 21-18 in a 31-minute semifinal round match.
Kerri Walsh (San Jose, Calif.) and Brittany Hochevar (Fowler, Colo.), seeded 13th, won three consolation matches to advance to Saturday’s matches. However, Kesizer and Van Iersel outscored Walsh and Hochevar 26-24, 21-19 to advance to the semifinals where they later defeated Kessy and Ross to advance to the finals.
