COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 4, 2011) – The 2011 USA Volleyball Open National Championships concluded Saturday at the Dallas Convention Centers as the 534-team event crowned a total of 26 winners in various championship brackets that started on May 28.
The tournament drew teams representing 36 of USA Volleyball’s 40 Regional Volleyball Associations plus clubs from Brazil, Venezuela, Canada, Mexico, France and Puerto Rico. In the end, 10 different regions and two foreign countries earned gold medals in the 26 championship brackets.
Except for 1943 and 1944 during the height of World War II, the USA Volleyball Open National Championships has been a mainstay celebrating adult volleyball across the country. The event remains as one of the largest national championships in any sport in the United States.
The 2012 USA Volleyball Open National Championships will be held at the Calvin L. Rampton Salt Palace Convention Center May 26 to June 2.
