USAV Announces Women's Junior A2 Rosters

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 8, 2011) – The USA Volleyball High Performance Department is pleased to announce its two 2011 U.S. Women’s Junior A2 Team rosters.

One of the U.S. Women’s Junior A2 Teams will tour and compete in Europe from July 12-23 and the other U.S. Women’s Junior A2 Team will compete in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championship from July 26-30 in Tucson, Ariz.

The U.S. Women’s Junior A2 Team competing in Europe has a 12-player roster. Middle blockers selected for the team are Inky Ajanaku (Tulsa, Okla., Club ONE, Oklahoma Region), Samantha Cash (San Diego, Calif., Coast, Southern California Region) and Natalie Loos (Carlsbad, Calif., Saint Mary’s College of California, Southern California Region). Outside hitters are Jordan Shaw (Woodside, Calif., Saint Mary’s College of California, Northern California Region) and Nicole Walch (Palm City, Fla., TCVB Club, Florida Region). Opposites are Rachael Bedell (Plano, Texas, University of Iowa, North Texas Region), Chaniel Nelson (Cornelius, N.C., University of North Carolina, Carolina Region) and Elise Walch (Palm City, Fla., Florida State University, Florida Region).

The two setters selected for the U.S. Team competing in Europe are Haley Crone (Temecula, Calif., Coast, Southern California Region) and Kamryn Sherman (Ponte Vedra, Fla., Clemson University, Florida Region) and the two liberos are Brooke Fournier (Redondo Beach, Calif., University of Arkansas, Southern California Region) and Kaitlin Mosher (Fort Myers, Fla., Florida State University, Florida Region).

The U.S. Women’s Junior A2 Team will play in three matches versus the Great Britain National team and also in seven matches at the European Global Challenge in Croatia. The program is run in conjunction with “Bring It USA Promotions” (BIP). USA Volleyball is sending a U.S. Women’s Junior A2 team to the European Global Challenge for a third straight year.

The U.S. Women’s Junior A2 Team-HPC competing in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships has an 11-player roster. Middle blockers selected for the team are Savannah Angel (Rock Hill, S.C., Piedmont Mizuno, Carolina Region), Rachel Lenz (Lancaster, Pa., Yorktowne, Keystone Region) and Samantha Madrid (Bellflower, Calif., Roots Volleyball Club, Southern California Region). Outside hitters are Diara Lewis (Columbia, S.C., Magnum Volleyball, Palmetto Region), Maya Midzik (Brookline, Mass., Smash, New England Region) and Megan Courtney (Dayton, Ohio, Team Z, Ohio Valley Region), who also is also a setter. MacKenzie Dagostino (Tampa, Tampa Bay Juniors, Florida Region) and Abigail Konovodoff (Sugar Grove, Ill., Rosary High School, Great Lakes Region) have been selected as setters for the team. Liberos for the U.S. Women’s Junior A2 Team-HPC are Anna Church (Fairway, Kan., Bishop Miege High School, Heart of America Region), Alyssa Warren (Joliet, Ill., Seton Hall University, Great Lakes Region) and Bethany Yeager (Brenham, Texas, University of Iowa, Lone Star Region).

The U.S. Women’s Junior A2 Team will train for five days beginning July 20 in preparation for the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, an international style competition held July 26-30 in Tucson, Ariz. The U.S. Women’s Junior A2 Team will participate in the Women’s International Junior Division. The team will compete against other USA teams, Region High Performance teams and international teams.
