USAV Selects Boys’ Youth Continental Roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 17, 2011) – The USA Volleyball High Performance Department is pleased to announce its Boys’ Youth Continental Program roster.

The U.S. Boys’ Youth Continental program consists of 30 top athletes born in 1998 or 1999, selected from any of the 16 USAV Boys’ High Performance tryouts held in January-March 2011.

The players will travel to Tucson, Ariz. July 20-30 for the 2011 USAV HP Championships. The team will train for the first five days where the coaching staff will evaluate and divide the athletes into three-tiered teams; red, white and blue. Each squad will then have five days of competition to try and capture an HP Championship title.

Head Youth Age-Group Coach Matt Martin will direct an excellent staff to coach the Boys’ Youth Continental Team Program.  Coaches include Jeremy Price of Grand Canyon University, David Schmidlin of Cardinal Stritch University, Sam Shweisky of Princeton University, Cary Cusumano of Lindenwood University and Rick Budar of Outrigger Canoe Club.  A sixth coach will be announced at a later date.
