Beach Junior Tour Crosses to Crossroads of the West

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 20, 2011) – The 2011 USA Beach Junior Tour saw 17 teams compete at the Crossroads of the West on June 11 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The teams played in various types of weather throughout the day. In the morning the weather was cool as the teams were stretching and warming up to play. As the day and play went on, the temperature warmed up and teams enjoyed a nice day for beach volleyball. A light rain storm then came through just in time for the finals.

In the girls’ under-14 (U-14) age group, the Park City, Utah, team of Danielle Barton and Samantha Thomas won first place. Bailee Barton (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Sidney Brandon (Bountiful, Utah) captured second. Gracey Tuifua (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Alexandra Betz (Draper, Utah) took third place in the girls’ U-14 division.

The first-place winners of the girls’ U-16 division were Marissa Eng (Murray, Utah) and Kristi Rhead (Morgan, Utah). Alexa Parker (Santa Clara, Utah) and Kodee Avery (Peoria, Ariz.) finished in second. Tara Gregory (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Mandy Taft (Sandy, Utah) came in third place.

Ciara Parker (Santa Clara, Utah) and McKenzie Willey (Highland, Utah) were crowned with first-place in the girls’ U-18 division.
