ATLANTA (June 25, 2011) – The USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships (GJNC) kicked off with the Girls’ 14 American, National and Open divisions on June 25 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The tournament continues through July 4.

After a few days of setup and months of planning, the USA Volleyball crew walked into the World Congress Center Saturday morning feeling prepared and ready to kick off the first day of the GJNC showcasing not only the matches, but its sponsors and added tournament enhancements.

This year’s event has added some new features for the enjoyment of the athletes and spectators. Mizuno and Molten- both USA Volleyball sponsors – have new products on the market that are selling very successfully at the GJNC.

Mizuno’s Volleyball Promotions Coordinator Brynn Murphy is really enjoying being at the USAV Girls’ Junior National Championships and distributing new products.

“We love our relationship with USA Volleyball,” Murphy said. “This tournament gives great exposure for both USA Volleyball and Mizuno and is one of our favorite events. Mizuno is based in Atlanta and it’s nice to have a hometown event with the best athletes in the country.”

Murphy explained that Mizuno is running special promotions for the event.

“We are running some special promotions for this tournament,” Murphy said. “If you “like” our Mizuno page on Facebook, then you get either free sunglasses, chap stick, towel or a key chain.”

Molten’s Team Sales Executive Jeff Zimmerman has a new product on the market that is selling well at the GJNC.

“We are having huge success at this tournament with the Animal Camp balls,” Zimmerman said. “We also have mini volleyballs and custom logo game balls that people are really enjoying.”

Merchandise for USA Volleyball and its Girls’ Junior National Championships is also for sale through the EM2 booth.

Sport Court and VolleyballRecruits.net – both USA Volleyball sponsors – have booths set up showing their products and services. Child in Hand (www.childinhand.org), formerly known as Haiti Street, is selling hand-made jewelry from Haiti and seeks donations for school supplies, athletic equipment and uniforms to bring to children in Haiti.

To keep young folks entertained, the Kids’ Zone was added this year to complement the families at the tournament. This new addition includes blow-up playgrounds and video games.

Another newly added factor to this year’s tournament is the televisions that play footage of the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams and the U.S. beach volleyball teams. The arena televisions will also be used to show the live webcast of the gold-medal matches of the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships.

Photos of the athletes and their teams are on computers at the arena for viewing and purchasing through Texas Star. More computers can be found at the results table, which allows for coaches, players, parents and fans to track the scheduling and updates of the tournament.

The USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships is hosting and entertaining 808 teams and their friends and families.
