Tear down began Saturday in the Tucson Convention Center at the conclusion of the 2011 USAV HP Championships.

TUCSON, Ariz. (July 30, 2011) – The 2011 USA Volleyball (USAV) High Performance (HP) Championships concluded Saturday after crowning champions in both the Girls’ National Select and Girls’ National Youth Divisions in Tucson. 

Court No. 1 was surrounded in the morning as the Girls’ National Youth gold-medal match got underway. The Aloha Region Girls’ National Youth Team outplayed Team Florida Girls’ National Youth team, 25-16, 25-17, 27-25. The Aloha Girls’ received the gold medal after charting a perfect 8-0 record. Two of Team Florida’s three losses were to the Aloha Girls’, previously in a five-set semifinal match. 

The bronze medal went to Lakeshore Youth after the team defeated the Badger Girls’ National Youth Team in a nail biting finish, 25-21, 24-26, 23-25, 25-23, 15-13.

In the Girls’ National Select Division the Iowa Girls’ Select Navy Team captured the gold medal after defeating Southern California (SCVA) Select Red, 26-24, 25-23, 26-24. Iowa charted a tournament record of 8-0 after losing only five sets. SCVA earned the silver medal after tallying a 6-2 record with its only two losses going to Iowa.

Host team, Arizona Girls’ Select seized the bronze medal after downing the Iowa Girls’ Select White in a close, 25-18, 17-25, 25-15, 25-8 match.  Arizona exited the tournament with a 6-2 record. Both teams entered the match with a 4-3 record.

A total of 98 teams are competing in the 13th USA Volleyball High Performance Championships’ in seven different divisions on 15 courts at the Tucson Convention Center. The USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, which featured a tournament-record number of teams, combines the best teams from USAV High Performance Pipeline teams, USAV Region High Performance Teams and international squads in the marquee event.
