COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 13, 2011) – The U.S. Women’s Beach Team of Jen Kessy and April Ross defeated Mexico’s Bibiana Candelas and Mayra Garcia on Saturday, 21-18, 21-12 to advance into the semifinals of the FIVB “Road to London” Visa International Test Event in London.

Kessy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.) defeated Candelas and Garcia, the tournament’s sixth-seeded team in round two, advancing the Americans’ record to 4-0.

The Americans will face Great Britain’s ninth-seeded team and local favorites, Lucy Boulton and Denise Johns to determine who will compete for the bronze and who will compete for the gold.

The other semifinal match will be a Brazilian showdown between fourth seeds, Vivian Danielle da Conceicao Cunha and Taiana Lima and the surprise 19th-seeded team of Liliane Maestrini and Angela Vieria.

Both the semifinals and medal matches are slated for Sunday.
