COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 2, 2011) – The 2012 USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships (BJNC), set for July 1-8 at the Dallas Convention Center, will offer 11 championship brackets in next summer’s event.
The BJNC will have Open Division titles in each age group from 14 to 18, while offering club titles for each age from 13 to 18. In the past, a 12 Club Division bracket was offered for the youngest age groups. To help spur growth in the 13 Club Division, it was decided to combine the 12 Club and 13 Club Divisions. In recent years the 13 Club Division has experience low team registrations.
“By combining the two youngest age groups, USA Volleyball allows both age groups to continue competing in our Boys’ Junior National Championships,” USA Volleyball Senior Director Tom Pingel said. “Further, we hope this move creates added interest in the 13 Club Division so that it can stand on its own in the future and allow the 12 Club Division to return.”
All 12 Club Teams are encouraged to continue participating in the BJNC. The 12-and-under teams that move up to the 13 Club Division will utilize the Molten Pro Touch V58 ball and play on the 13-and-under net height of 7-4 1/8.
In addition, USA Volleyball will still offer its 12-and-under and 13-and-under boys’ club incentive program. To see how clubs can obtain a 50 percent reduction in the tournament entry fee, click here.
