COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 14, 2011) – After nearly 12 years at its present location, USA Volleyball’s headquarter office will have a new address come March 2012.
USA Volleyball, which has been located at 715 South Circle Drive in Colorado Springs since 1999, completed the purchase on Dec. 9 of an existing building located at 4065 Sinton Drive in Colorado Springs. Before move-in, the new building will undergo a remodeling phase to create the necessary office space and working areas for the 50-plus individuals who work at the headquarter office. USA Volleyball will maintain its three distant offices in Anaheim, Calif. (USA Indoor National Teams Center), Hermosa, Calif. (beach office) and Edmond, Okla. (sitting team office).
“The purchase of this building not only re-establishes our long-term commitment to the city of Colorado Springs and the Olympic presence in this town, but is a wonderful statement to the overall growth of our sport and our organization and our abilities to service our members and wide-ranging constituent populations,” USA Volleyball Chief Executive Officer Doug Beal said. “USA Volleyball is extremely excited to make this step into property ownership with an upgraded environment for our staff to handle all continued growth for the foreseeable future.”
USA Volleyball has out-grown the current office location with added employees to handle day-to-day business for the National Governing Body. The new office building is approximately 30,000-square feet versus the current building’s 12,500-square feet of space.
USA Volleyball has been located in Colorado Springs since 1978, and has been an active community partner with the City of Colorado Springs, the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation and the United States Olympic Committee since its arrival into the city. USA Volleyball consistently brings in high performance junior camps and clinics into the city of Colorado Springs, as well as holding international competitions with the world’s best volleyball teams.
“The sport of volleyball is thriving in the United States, and under Doug Beal’s leadership, USA Volleyball has done something every business hopes to do; they outgrew their space,” USOC CEO Scott Blackmun said. “This move is good for USA Volleyball and will no doubt ensure Doug and his team will continue to succeed.”
“Our city is honored and thankful that USA Volleyball will continue to call Colorado Springs home,” Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach said. “We wish them the best in their new location.”
USA Volleyball is in on-going discussion with several other National Governing Bodies to co-locate into the 4065 Sinton building to create some shared services and programming for added cost-savings.
