COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 17, 2011) – The USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic, with NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship finalist coach Kevin Hambly from University of Illinois as headline speaker, is set for Jan. 19-21, 2012, at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Deadline for registration is 10 a.m. MST on Monday, Dec. 19. To register online, click here.

Since 2004, the USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic has brought together great coaching minds to network and share the most current, pertinent and critical issues in the sport. Past speakers have included the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Team coaches, international coaches, USAV High Performance Pipeline Coaches and USAV Region High Performance coaches.

Topics range yearly and have covered ideas such as the men’s versus women’s game, sports psychology, uses of technology and drill ideas. Demonstrators have included National Team Members, All-Americans and local club athletes.

The clinic has been held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs since its inception, giving the clinic an intimate setting for the 180 athletes and coaches in attendance. Sessions are designed to incorporate participant discussion in examining the decision-making process and the on-court execution to help create their own strategies and tactics for given situations.

The full clinic experience costs $450, which includes room and board at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and shuttle service from the Colorado Springs airport. Cost for individuals commuting to the clinic daily is $375, which includes meals.

Hambly, who has guided the Fighting Illini into the NCAA Division I title match on Dec. 17 in just his third year as head coach, is no stranger to the USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline. He served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Women’s National Team that finished fourth at the 2004 Olympic Games. Hambly served as head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Training Team during his tenure with the program. He continues to serve as USA Volleyball as a consultant during U.S. Women’s National Team tryouts typically held in February each year.
