COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 22, 2012) – USA Volleyball staff hosted Jizhong Wei, president of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), and members of the FIVB Executive Group on Feb. 17-19 as part of the final site inspection for the 2012 FIVB World Congress set for Sept. 19-21 at the Disneyland Hotel and Resort in Anaheim, Calif.
“USA Volleyball is honored to have hosted FIVB President Jizhong Wei and FIVB's Executive Group at the Disneyland Hotel and Resort for a final site visit to confirm its location as the host property for the 2012 FIVB World Congress,” USA Volleyball Secretary General Kerry Klostermann said. “The partnership with Disney will undoubtedly result in a professionally produced Congress, enhanced by the memorable and iconic destination and the magic of the Disneyland Parks.”

The site visit included inspections of the Disneyland Hotel and Resort meeting and sleeping rooms, Disneyland and the Anaheim White House Restaurant run by famed chef Bruno Serato.
The 2012 FIVB World Congress is an elective Congress with President Wei having already decided not to run for the position. He was appointed FIVB president in 2008. USA Volleyball CEO Doug Beal has already declared himself a candidate for the position. For details on his candidacy, click here.
“The FIVB hopes all the national federations could attend this historic congress,” FIVB President Wei said. “For this reason, the FIVB and the host national federation USA Volleyball will do all that is necessary for the smooth participation of all our members. The inspection went very well with all the appropriate facilities already in place while the help and expertise of USA Volleyball in helping all our members attend the Congress will be equally important.”

Along with Mr. Marte Hoffiz, NORCECA was represented by Ms. Arateide Caceres.
USA Volleyball staff in attendance included Klostermann, Doug Beal, manager of finance and corporate operations June Sander and director of indoor national teams Gary Moy.
More than 250 volleyball dignitaries are expected to attend the Congress – the 33rd FIVB Congress dating back to 1947 - with category 1 and 2 national federations invited to a seminar a day earlier on September 18. The seminar and Congress allows participants the opportunity to discuss issues with FIVB and confederation officials while also providing a platform for the FIVB to update the federations on key developments within the organization.
The FIVB Congress is held every two years. Anaheim was named ahead of Zurich as host of the 2012 meeting at the FIVB Board of Administration in April 2011.
