Junior Teams Open Beach Tour in Mississippi

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 4, 2009) – Players from Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi took gold medals at the Delta Open in Gulfport, Miss., on Saturday. The event was the first in the 2009 USA Beach Junior Tour.

The girls’ team of Deanna Vogler and Brooke Carpenter, both from Daphne, Ala., won the girls’ 18-and-under division with a 21-16 victory over Nacquel Jalanivich (Biloxi, Miss.) and Sarah Guisinger (Ocean Springs, Miss.).

Jalanivich and Guisinger won silver with a 21-10 defeat of Jen Cospelich (Marrero, La.) and Torie Clark (Marrero, La.), who took the bronze.

Zack Brenvenu (New Orleans) and Joel Culpepper (Gulfport) won the boys’ 18-and-under division with a 21-16, 21-14 win over Forrest Montgomery (Kenner, La.) and Kyle Scaffidi (Matairie, La.), who took silver.
