Statement from the U.S. Men's Volleyball Team

This is a statement released by the U.S. Men’s Olympic Volleyball Team prior to their match on Aug. 10 against Venezuela.

"As a team, there is nothing more important to us than supporting Mrs. Bachman in her struggle and supporting Hugh and Elisabeth in their grief. We are absolutely devastated by what has occurred, for their loss and for everything they are going through.

"Hugh has been in touch with the team throughout this tragedy and we're extremely proud of the strength he and Elisabeth are displaying. They know we're here for them in every way possible.

"We're banding together as a team to lift up the Bachmans and McCutcheons. We are a family, and we'll get through this together as a family."

    We just heard of this, and our family in Texas sends our condolences to this family. The US is behind the Bachmans and the McCutcheons. God bless you during this difficult time.

    I was watching the olympics earlier today and heard about the death of Mr. Buchman. I am sorry and wanted to offer my condolences to both families (Bachmans and the McCutcheons) also a speedy recovery to Mrs. Bachman. I know this comes at a terrible time, however I wanted to let both the women & the men's volleyball team know that I as well as so many others are behind you 100% on your journey in the olympics and because of all of you I am proud to be an American as you all represent the United States. Well wishes and good luck to all while in China all the way from Las Vegas/Hawaii. Clay Stanley I am proud of you, "GO GET EM"!!!

    Congratulations to the mens volleyball team & Clay Stanley with 21 kills over Venezuela! I stayed up to watch this game which just got ended 3 O'clock in the morning Vegas time. Can't wait to watch your next match.
