If you go to Wikipedia.com and enter David Lee’s name, you will find profiles on American, Irish and Singaporean football players, a physicist, a sound mixer, a DJ and even an “information architect.” But no volleyball player is listed. USA VOLLEYBALL HIGH PERFORMANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

USA Volleyball will conduct its High Performance Championships July 23-27 at Tucson, Ariz. For the second year in a row, the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships will combine both the boys' and girls' events into one concurrent tournament format. Titles up for grabs for girls include Girls’ International Junior, Girls’ International Youth, Girls’ National Youth and Girls’ National Select. Championships to be contested for boys include the Boys’ International Youth and Boys’ National Select. MORE

USA VOLLEYBALL PARTNERS WITH USOC ON NEW WEB PLATFORM

USA Volleyball and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) have partnered to deliver a new Web site, http://volleyball.teamusa.org. Initially, the site will provide up-to-date news and stories relating to indoor and beach volleyball national team news. Content will expand over the summer to include USA Volleyball programs at all levels. The Web site launched May 30 as part of the overall USOC Web site www.teamusa.org that incorporates information from all National Governing Bodies within the USOC. MORE

USA VOLLEYBALL LAUNCHES ON-LINE USER VIDEO CHANNEL

USA Volleyball announced Feb. 1 that it has launched an interactive video web component on its web site called “USA Volleyball Video Channel” and accessed at http://www.usavolleyball.org/video/default.aspx.

Essentially, the functionality allows users to upload volleyball-related video for USA Volleyball to review and post either directly “as-is” or in post-production format coming video segments similar to a television show or newscast.

The YMCA of the USA inducted four new members into its Hall of Fame on May 24. To find out who was inducted, click here...The International Olympic Committee announced on June 4 that Chicago made the cut as one of four city finalists to host the 2016 Olympic Games. For more details, click here...Rita Crockett, a U.S. Women's National Team Olympian, has been selected for induction into the University of Houston Athletic Hall of Fame. For more info, click here...Mercyhurst College announced on May 29 that it has dropped men's volleyball as a varsity sport. Click here for the story...The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced that Mark McCloskey has announced his resignation as the organization's senior director of recruitment and events. For the press release, click here...Dr. Steven Snodgrass has a authored a health and fitness article relating to the Achilles tendon...The 55th USA Latvian Volleyball Championships were held May 24-25 at the Loyoa University Gentile Center in Evanston, Ill., with 13 volleyball participating. In the women's division final, Kalamazoo defeated Minneapolis (25-18; 25-20). Pamela Nora (Minneapolis) was named the best spiker and Inta Grinvalds (Kalamazoo) was named MWP. In the men's division nine teams competed. In the semifinals Chicago beat Canada I (21-12; 23-21) and Los Angeles "RIGA" won over Cleveland (21-13; 21-17). In the finals Chicago defeated LA "RIGA" (25-21; 25-15). Canada I got the bronze by defeating Cleveland (25-19). Charlie Weldre (Chicago) was named the best spiker and Arturs Kulans (Chicago) was named MWP.
